About The Lingafelter Development Fund

Robert Lingafelter was an employee at CAP Riverside who passed away in October of 1996 after a long battle with lung cancer. Robert dedicated his life to helping under resourced communities realize their hopes for the future. He was a trainer, a developer, and an organizer.

To honor Robert, CAP Riverside established the Lingafelter Program Development Fund.  The goal of this fund is to provide small grants to grassroots organizations in Riverside County to help with startup costs, such as, helping them obtain their incorporation and 501c(3) status.

Caravanserai and Community Action Partnership Collaboration

The COVID-19 pandemic had a profound and determinantal impact on the formation of nonprofits addressing poverty in the County of Riverside. The County of Riverside struggles with a low philanthropic profile resulting in nonprofit startups struggling to secure funding, to build capacity, and internal infrastructure to address the needs of the community. The Caravanserai Dream Fund and Community Action Partnership’s Lingafelter Development Fund address this challenge by providing vital funding to local Riverside County nonprofits that serve the low-income community. In addition to providing valuable seed funding for nonprofit startups, the Dream Fund and Lingafelter Development Fund collaboration provides grant recipients with technical training to help them achieve their mission. Recipients will gain valuable knowledge and resources that increase their capacity and attract potential funding streams to sustain their nonprofit and make a lasting community impact.
