Director's Message

Welcome to the Community Action Partnership of Riverside County virtual site!

We are part of the County of Riverside government and a new member of the Riverside

County Department of Public Health team.  As the Executive Director of Riverside County

Community Action Partnership, my responsibilities include leading our paid staff of over 60

as well as hundreds of volunteers in providing much needed assistance to the residents of our

28 cities and the unincorporated areas of Riverside County.  Our task is not easy

as many of our 2.3 million residents have suffered greatly through the

recession and our slow economic recovery.

As one of California’s fastest growing counties, poverty and economic

challenges are growing amongst our single parent families, seniors, and the disabled.

We also serve one of America’s largest Military Veteran populations of 133,000 members

plus their dependents. Our goal includes providing clients with services with respect and dignity.

We are diligent in maintaining a balanced budget while delivering services to our residents, along

with serving the needs of our Riverside County Board of Supervisors and County Executive Officer.

Prior to being appointed the Executive Director of Community Action Partnership & the Deputy Director of the

Department of Public Health, I began my government service with the County of San Diego at age 16,

as a part-time employee. Later, I served as a staff member in the United States House of

Representatives specializing in helping constituents resolve issues with the federal government. In this role,

I assisted residents with social security, veteran benefits, and resolved disputes with the federal government.

My gained experience and knowledge was an attribute to my transition to the County of Riverside as a

member of the Board of Supervisors fifth district team.

I have worked for the Economic Development

Agency, County Library system, and Housing Authority. Over the years I have gained expertise in

Project Management, Marketing, and Grant Writing. I also had the pleasure to serve as a Commissioner

with Community Action, while serving as Mayor of Banning.   While working full time and pursuing my

college education, I completed my bachelors and masters degrees at the University of Redlands,

and later as a Laura Bush Scholar, I earned a full merit scholarship to

Syracuse University and completed a second master’s degree in Library and Information Science.

Being the first member of my family to graduate from college, I recognize the importance of education.

We are here to serve Riverside County residents and those families and individuals in need.

Our entire team at Community Action Partnership and the Department of Public

Health are devoted to service above self and doing as much as we can to return our clients to self-sufficiency.

As we look forward to the future, we will increase partnerships, incorporate technology,

and find creative ways to reach our customers while creating health and wealth. I am grateful to

lead a dedicated staff in serving our public and welcome your comments and suggestions about our programs.

Please feel check our website often at www.capriverside.org for the most up to date information about our

programs at Community Action Partnership of Riverside County.

I look forward to being able to serve and assist for many years to come.
